CNC stands for computer numerical control, so a CNC router is a router that is controlled by a computer. It is used to cut things such as wood and metals. The CNC router must be programmed with tool paths in different softwares such as Fusion 360 so it knows where to cut.

The router in the Innovation Center is the HS CNC ROUTER HS48X48.
One thing I learned about the router.
One thing I learned is that the router can be used on a lage variety of materials such as wood, foam, steel, aluminum, and plastics. These are just a few examples of materials that can be cut. This means tha the CNC router is great for a wide variety of projects.
What would I make in the router?
If I could make anything I wanted in the CNC router I would make something similar to this Ravens logo but instead of the Ravens I would make it a Seahawks logo. I really like how this looks with the different layers of wood. I think it would be very fun to design.
Summary...
Unfortunately I didn't get to actually use the router since we are not at school. Despite this I still got to learn some about the router and how it works. I learned it cuts things and is controlled by a computer. However we need to program the machine for the tool path and cuts we want it to do. This is done using a program such as fusion 360. I learned that using the router lets people make very precise cuts that would take a lot of skill to do by hand. Overall the CNC router seems like a very interesting machine that can be a useful tool in many different projects.
